Follow the Leader

Or in this case....your big sister. Calli never took a pacifier. She was born early & because of that did not have a good sucking reflex. Celeste is a good eater but still doesn't take a pacifier. She never took to it. However, Calli does have a lovie named DOG. It is a soft plush dog that she became attached to around 1-1/2 years old. The original one is long gone but we have 3 that we rotate. They stink even after washing. She bites on the feet or the arms of them. Celeste seems to be following in her footsteps. She has a giraffe that has pacifier attached (but doesn't use the pacifier side) & she has a horse. She loves both & will use either one to calm herself down or go to sleep with at night.

Laid Back Summer

We had a pretty easy going summer....not much to do. It was nice to just hang out & relax with family & friends. Here are some pictures from July.

My sister & I are exactly 1 year & 2 weeks apart. When we were growing up people would always give us clothes that matched or were very similar. I hated wearing the same thing as her & people asking us of we were twins. No, I would say. I always said I would never dress my girls alike. Apparently things have changed.

Big Sister

Calli is such a good big sister. Trying to get things done around the house I put Celeste in the swing. I heard Calli reading her "Go Dog Go" book. As I came down the stairs this is what I saw. Calli reading to her. Precious!!

A few days later as I was cooking dinner, Calli asked me if she could play with celeste on the floor. I just had to snap these girls. So much love!!

Father's Day

For Father's Day we went to my parents ranch & spent the day. My sister Kourtney, my brother Kaleb & his girlfriend went as well as my brother Dan & his kids. After Kaleb grilled some great steaks we all hung out by the pool. Celeste got in the water with Roman & seemed ok with it. I think it was a bit chilly but she lasted for a few minutes. Since Calli has always had tubes in her ears over the summers so we are hesistant about letting her go underwater. Since no additional problems have occurred we encouraged her to go under. With the help of her cousins she started going under. She seemed to tolerate it pretty well & had a blast.

2 month checkup

Celeste had her 2 month checkup at the beginning of June. She is doing great. She started sleeping through the night at 6 weeks which made going back to work easier. She holds her head up very well, smiles & coos & is growing fast.

Weight: 13.8 lbs (90th percentile)
Height" 23" long (72%)

Hodges Gardens

The first weekend of June was my Grandma Kopesky's 80th Birthday. To celebrate, we all (my parents, my grandmothers, my aunts, cousin, great aunt, my 2 brothers, nephew/nieces & one of my sisters) went to Hodges Gardens in Louisiana. It is a beautiful park that has many paths & garden areas. They had cabins that we stayed in. The theme was "80" and everyone was supposed to bring 80 of something for Grandma. Instead of a cake we had 80 mini cupcakes. We had such a good time celebrating this birthday, being with family & enjoying the great outdoors.

Memorial Day Weekend

We went to the valley for Memorial Day weekend to visit Roman's parents. It was the first long trip for Celeste. (6 hours) She actually did pretty well considering she doesn't like to ride in the car. We didn't do a whole lot while we were there. We visited with family, made a trip the the outlet mall & just took it easy. Roman also squeezed in some gold with his dad, brother & newphew while we were there. As usual when visiting them the trip seems way too short for how far we drive!!

God is so good!!

Praise to HIM. Roman found a job & has been working for the last 2 weeks. He is doing inside sales for a company that sales tooling. He has much to learn but from what he tells me it's becoming easier & easier every day. All this came about 1 week after I returned to work & when Celeste turned 6 weeks so she could go to childcare. Both the girls are at Martha's house (in home child care) and are doing well. We are still trying to settle into a routine & should be there shortly. Celeste has been sleeping through the night since she turned 6 weeks old. She was doing good before & then I guess it just clicked. That has made Roman's transition back in the workforce & me going back to work much easier. Both girls keep us very busy but we wouldn't have it any other way. We are so blessed....two beautiful healthy baby girls is more than we ever dreamed of.

Happy Mother's Day

On Mother's Day we drove to my parents ranch & suprised my mom with lunch. My 2 brothers were there as well. It was a relaxing day. First we had lunch then Roman took Calli swimming & then he went fishing. I hung out with Calli & my brother near the pool while my mom held Celeste. The sun was shining & the breeze was amazing. It was just what I needed.

Hand Me Downs

A few weeks back I had pulled out & sorted Calli's 3 months clothes for Celeste to start wearing. The majority of what I pulled out were onesies & rompers because of the hot weather to come. Most everything else was winter clothes. I did hold out 3 outfits that were pants & long sleeves "just in case" we had more cool weather. Much to our suprise we woke up this morning & it was bit chilly. As I was getting Celeste dressed this morning...I clearly remember Calli wearing this outfit & knew there was a picture of it. After some digging I did find the picture & checked her weight around that time from the doctor visits. Here are the girls wearing the outfit 2 years apart.

Calli @ 5 months - 13 lbs

Celeste @ 1 month guessing around 11 lbs

Roman's Girls

This is the day we went & saw the Easter Bunny at the mall. Roman wanted to snap a picture of his girls before we left.

Easter Weekend

On Good Friday we left to head to Franklin where my parents ranch is. We spent the weekend there & had so much fun. On Sat family & friends came up to celebrate Easter just like we do every year. After lunch there is a hay ride, egg hunt & pinata for the kids. This year Calli was the only one who actually got to hit the pinata. When my brother Kaleb went to pull it up the top tore off!! Apparently it had been stuffed too well. Calli had so much hanging out with her cousins.

Celeste is doing great. She is eating & sleeping well & just like Calli will learn to just go with the flow of our busy family. She is such a joy to us!!

Easter Bunny Visit

A couple of weeks ago, when Celeste was 10 days old we took a quick trip to the mall & visited the Easter Bunny. We were unsure how Calli would do since she was scared of Santa Claus at Christmas. She was so excited but then when we got to the bunny she seemed taken aback. We quickly put Celeste in the bunny's arms & Calli eventually climbed up there but held Roman's hand. They snapped some pictures & were able to crop out Roman's hand. We then noticed that Celeste had her hand over her face. We quickly re-adjusted her & the photographer snapped again. This is the final product with Calli leaning away but not crying at least. All in all it was a fun outing as family of 4.

Sister Love

Here are some pictures of Calli holding Celeste at the hospital. I love the way she got so excited as she prepared to hold her.
